Lessons of 2020

Blessings of 2020 otherwise known as THE VIRUS

(sheltering – in – love)

This year has been a year of changes for many of us.  We personally had so many plans, trips on our calendar, consulting trips for David and then March hit.  We all heard the news that there was a new virus that had hit our country and the reports varied as to the importance of it.  My instincts as a former infection/quality control nurse kicked in.  We started wearing mask, using hand sanitizer along with washing our hands frequently and self-sheltering as we were in the “at risk” group.   We were/are very mindful of crowds.  Personally, we are not living in fear but seeing this as our opportunity to do our part to protect ourselves and others.  We were restless and frankly got on each others nerves a little at first but that soon passed as we embraced our new normal.

I personally decided to use this time to go within, to have deep reflections on what I wanted my life to look like.  It has been a time of clearing excess activities, time to clear physical space, to look at relationships and which ones are authentic and what just might be relationships that should be of the past., patterns within myself and patterns that no longer serve my highest good.

Early on I had taken a class about discerning your purpose and it was suggested we take the Briggs Myers test.  It was revealed in the results that I am 89% introvert…surprise, surprise!  But with this confirmation of what I always believed it was no surprise that I was able to adapt easily to sheltering in home.  David later renamed it to sheltering in love.

We have taken this time to reflect, write, catch up on reading and take courses we have been meaning to take.  We have gone back to connecting with friends and family more often as our constant activity seemed to get in the way of taking the time to do it.

We started putting energy back into our business, SoulSoothers and started updating our website.  Soon we will be starting our monthly newsletter again and if you would like it please contact me either on our website www.soulsoother.org or via email susan@soulsoothers.org

It has been a time of change from toilet paper shortages to food not being as readily available as we are used to but there are blessing within the changes.   We have not been immune to the virus.  We lost a loved one due to complications of the virus and are still grieving her death, but we are also celebrating the beautiful life she had and the gift of love.  We feel strongly we are to do our part to keep others and ourselves safe as we can.

We hold each of you in our prayers for good health and peace with this storm.  This too will pass and let us come thru it with love.
