Rev David’s history:

My counseling experience goes way back to 1980 when I was a volunteer at the Sacramento, CA., Suicide Prevention Agency for two years and was training other volunteers.  During that same year I found Alcoholics Anonymous and have been clean and sober and working with and counseling addicts ever since. I obtained a Paraprofessional degree in alcohol and drug counseling from the University of California, the Sacramento branch. I was a United Way Informational Referral Agent at an Aerospace plant where I worked at various jobs for 15 years. I was the companies “go to” man whenever they had a problem employee.  I was successful in getting many of the employees recovery help, saving their jobs and saving the company monies that had been invested in these employees through  training and their experience to do their jobs.  Sadly, not all were helped, and some had to pay the ultimate price of addiction, death. The company appreciated the results of my work and let me start an in-house recovery group at lunch time for both union employees and management.  We eventually even had a high-ranking member of the corporate offices attend for several years.  From 1993 till I entered Ministerial school in July of 1995, I oversaw and created an Anger Prevention program for the Sierra Council on Drugs and Alcohol.  My interactive class and self designed curriculum were so successful that the courts filled my classes with people, either as part of their sentencing, part of their parole or in some cases were mandated to complete my class before they could gain back custody of their children. The last place that I offered this class was to inmates in Folsom prison who were scheduled to be release within 60 days.  It was designed to give them every advantage to stay free and reduce the recidivism rate by giving them positive, doable steps to control their anger and make healthier choices.  Finally, along with my 26 years as a minister, I have had plenty of opportunities to council, to teach and to hold workshops that invited participants to look more deeply inside, to identify and heal the causes of their underlying issues, take responsibility for their own emotions and feelings and I was able to create a calming environment that centers and soothes the soul.

Currently, I have spent the last two year getting certified as a Unity Wellness Consultant and Transitional Minister Specialist. I also guest speak in area churches and have been enjoying facilitating “Spiritual Gifts” and “Vision, Mission, Core Values” workshops.

The question isn’t “What is the meaning of Life” but rather “How can I give life meaning?”
